Top Knot. We love us some top knot in our house. My roommate Nini likes to rock the knot all-day-er-day so when I was thinking about what to make her for the holidays (yes, yes I know I said the holidays, this post is late but she only just wore it!) I thought it would be a good idea to add a lil pizazz to the knot.
Yes, that is Charlize on her mirror, she has a bit of a girl crush. Anywhoo, back to the head. She wore it to work and got so many compliments, so lets make some so you can all get your moment in the sun when you wear it.
SUPPLIES /
3 pieces of chain (I measured the back of Nini's head, but if you can't measure, about 1ft each piece will work)
6 jump rings
2 Hair combs
Jewelry pliers & Chain cutter
1 / Lay out the design you want with the chains and cut the chains to the appropriate size. (Pay no attention to the black string, I was trying to get fancy but decided against it for the final piece.)
2 / Stretch your jump ring out real good and attach the one end chain to your one comb with the jump rings and repeat this process attaching the other end of the chain to the other comb. (Make sure the teeth of the comb face inward.)
3 / Repeat with the middle chain in the middle of the comb and the end chain at the end.
And thats it my friends! Working from the back of your head towards the front, insert the combs into your hair and you will have a beautiful new do!
Nini received a bunch of interest in this piece when she wore it, so if you would like one made for you, shoot me an email at jamie@128johnst.com and we can talk! Imagine it with rhinestones, or more chains!?
